ALL WOMEN IN MY HOUSEHOLD WHO USED TO WORK ARE NOW AT HOME. IT IS MISERABLE
Shamsia“I used to work independently in the judicial system. Now I am unemployed, sometimes doing small social activities, or giving legal advice. Before the Taliban took over, I had done several internships specializing in the areas of legislation and defense of human rights and civil activities.
Now I am unemployed. It is very pathetic and sad for me and others like me because I had worked very hard in the field of my higher education, but now we are confined to the four walls of the house. I lost my job, for which I have worked and struggled for many years.
I always wanted real justice. But I have lost the freedom I had within the framework of the Sharia law.
The most important issue at the moment is to save our lives. Freedom under the Sharia is our greatest desire.
Continuing one’s education is beautiful, when a person can do it. Unfortunately, we cannot even use our knowledge now. This has led us to isolation.
Our struggle has always been to raise our voices and speak the truth. We do not remain silent. We want the rights that God gave us and we have tried to at least have a positive attitude.
But even our youngest family members cannot go to school. I want to explain to them that they should work harder and that education is a light in the darkness. I tell them not to be disappointed and to [those who do have some education, I tell them to] transfer their knowledge online to others. That’s the job that we have done for now.
I hope that Afghan women will learn, even study at home, or teach online.
I am the voice of an Afghan woman and I want to ask the world for the rights of women. What is the difference between the women of Afghanistan and the women of the world? The women of the world can live and work in any way they want, starting with driving. But an Afghan girl is far from enjoying her most basic rights, which is to have an education.
My message to Afghan girls is to break their shameful silence and join the voices of Afghan women – women who are the victims of these policies every day. But the world does not hear their voices.
