AT THIS POINT, MOST OF MY FAMILY MEMBERS HAVE DEPARTED DUE TO THE BAD SITUATION IN AFGHANISTAN. I JUST WISH THAT EVERYTHING WOULD GO BACK TO NORMAL IN MY COUNTRY, SO WE COME TOGETHER AND LIVE IN PEACE

“I am a young and educated Afghan girl, holding a Bachelors’ degree in English and another in Law from two different universities in Afghanistan. Currently, I am studying for a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree online while working for a United Nations agency in information management.

At the time of the Taliban takeover, I was a fresh university graduate who was busy working for a consultancy as an intern.

Over the past year, the most significant change in my personal life was that I got a better job offer and was admitted to the masters’ programme.

Currently, the United Nations is the only safe place that provides a good working space for women to be able to continue their professional life. As a UN employee, I’ve had the chance to work for Afghan women during this critical time. But it is so unfortunate that my sisters and other female students are not allowed to go to school and universities.

I just hope that one day all Afghan women and girls will have the chance to enjoy their basic rights and never suffer from inequality, which has been dominant all these years.

As women are mostly suffering from traditional beliefs, I recommend that every family member – male and female – work on their mentality and their mindset and do what they can to stand behind Afghan women and girls, be their voice and support them.”
