I hope that Afghan girls and woman will get their rights and freedom back and I wish that they will never see Taliban again
Hamida“I graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts then subsequently got my Masters’ in Visual and Performing Arts, both in Afghanistan. For the last 12 years of my professional career as a graphic designer and photographer, I worked for different NGOs and international organizations in Afghanistan.
Before the Taliban takeover, I was working as a freelancer designer. In 2022, I started working for a national NGO working for women. I was pregnant at the time and had to travel to provinces, which made everything challenging. We tried to find activists to rebuild civil society through assemblies of people and to improve the relationship between people and the Taliban. We did these activities in the five zones of Afghanistan. But since the recent Taliban restrictions, I have been confined to my home.
During the last year, my uncles, my father, my brother and many of my friends have left Afghanistan due the great danger posed by the Taliban. They worked for the fallen government. The Taliban searched our house twice and confiscated my father’s vehicle. After their second visit, my mother and my sisters left Afghanistan as we were concerned about my sisters’ safety.
The most important issue that matters for me is the future of Afghanistan, the future of Afghan people, especially women and girls. Everyone in Afghanistan is suffering from hunger. Most Afghan women and girls have economic problems.
I ask all the men in Afghanistan to support their wives, mothers and sisters and be kind to them. I ask the international community to not to forget us and to help Afghan girls and women in these difficult times.”
